Post Tell me what's annoying you.
So first off, it looks like I need to approve everyones posts which is not fun so I'll be looking into getting that addressed.

Hey!

Nice thing you are going to get started here. I'm looking forward to this place when it really starts off!

Some things I noticed:

I encountered that there is no email verification when you create a new account. Normally you would have to receive an email and click on a link in it to verify your account.

Since the topic of the forum is narrowed down to graphic novels there could be more subforums to cover the different aspects of graphic novel creation. For example "Writing", "Artwork", "Layout", "Marketing & Promotion" and so on. That way it would be easier for people to decide where to put their posting and where to search for the things that they are looking for.

One general thing:

It would be useful to define the term "graphic novel" and to make clear if this is going to be a general "comic forum" or a specialized forum for "graphic novels". That would also help to distinguish this place from "another web comic forum".

I haven't checked yet, but the post approval may only be for the general forum.

Daniel - Great suggestions. I think you're right about the forum topics as well as defining the term Graphic Novel. I'm glad you are excited about seeing this thing start up. Your GN is looking so amazing by the way. I'm really excited to start reading it when you start posting it online.

I'll try to look into the email thing as well. Thanks for the suggestions.

Rand - Oh so should we make the general forum with just categories and then let the sub forums be where everyone posts?

I'm not sure but I think the post approval is happening only to new members who have posted 3 or less posts. I'm waiting to see if this is true or not.

The verification system seems to be in good order. And assuming I don't need approval or confirmation or whatever other bugs still need to be shaken out, this seems to be in good working order.

Seems promising so far, though.

Great to see you here Mr. Average! Looks like the post approval is removed now.

I know you are already busy at Flight forums and wherever else you might go so any time here is much appreciated. I know you are a busy man.

Talk soon.

I'm not annoyed + this probably shouldn't go here but...i think this site is going to really fill a niche...Nice work Jason...Maybe you should start an 'mutual appreciation' page :) - Also - i joined on the 13th + i'm lucky member #13.

Welcome Filka! Thanks for the suggestion! How would the Mutual Appreciation section work though? Is it more of a section to talk about other GN artists that you like?

Thats generally what i thought could happen - a place where other fellow creatives could share their good stories on how other artists have helped them out.
Be it with words of advice, a place to check out, a letter or email they recieved from someone creative they admire. That kind of thing
It could be a place to share warm + fuzzie feelings of appreciation.
Plus it might help to share other 'under the radar' artists.
I mean, we all come across 'assholes' in the creative field - but when + where do we really get to share those hidden gems?...maybe this could be a good spot for it.
I think there should be guidelines to help filter out what would constitute 'mutual appreciation'...as in preferrably not really well known + already established artist...
You think that sounds like something that might work??

Chris - Still have to approve your posts. At least it's narrowed down to the first few members now. I tried to adjust the setting manually but it's just so darn complex and I'm not sure if I'm even adjusting the correct things. Hopefully I'm not totally screwing up your profile. haha. I'm going to do some online searches to see if I can figure this out.

Filka - That's a great idea. I'll keep it on my list of things to try out in the near future. For now you could start a thread in the general discussion on the subject and we can see how active it becomes. Thanks again for the idea!

Yes it did. Congratulations! Now, let's talk about why it doesn't log me in automaticaly when I came to the website, despite checking the "log me in automatically" box.

AHHHHH! I know! I've been annoyed with that same thing every time I try to log in. I was just going to ask if that was happening to anyone else.

One thing that I did activate was the cool "Quick Reply" button which is soooo nice!

>Ding< Here's to not approving posts anymore!

Thanks for the heads up. I changed the preferences so anyone can now start a topic in the general discussion. Good luck and let me know if you are still having problems with it.

I'm enjoying the site! The only thing that's bugging me is the log in system - it doesn't seem to keep me logged in very well and it returns me to the index page rather than the thread I was trying to reply to when I log in.
