Hi, I'm Jason Brubaker. Thanks for joining this forum! I figured it would be cool to get to know everyone a little more. Feel free to introduce yourself in this thread and tell us something cool about yourself. If you are really confident then you can even post a head shot.

Hi, I'm Larissa, but even offline many people call me Reed or Reedflower! I've been planning a Graphic Novel called Storm since I was 11, and thanks to websites like this one, I am almost ready to begin.

Hey there, I'm Stacy Hummel; i'm 28 living in Atlanta- Attending the Art institute of Atlanta (Game art and design). I've been working on graphic novels for about 8 years, but recently I decided to just jump in head first and create Eskeldia- after some feedback and requests from classmates. My goal is to raise enough money for publishing by early spring. It's great to meet everyone and I hope to be able to contribute the things I've learned along the way as well as learn from all of you!

Howdy! I'm Robyn Seale, I'm currently working on The Watcher of Yaathagggu, a lovely comic with a completely unpronouncable name. I really look forward to learning some tips so I can improve myself and put out an awesome graphic novel.

I'm otherwise 23; living in the Midwest, USA; and being the best tornado of awesome I can be.

Hey, I'm growly beast, aka A. Story in real life.

As it stands, I am 22 and living in Milwaukee, WI.

My current project is Inscribing Ardi, a fantasy graphic novel that's less world building and more character relationships.

Art and writing have always been my "things" but I feel like I'm only beginning to study the right things. I am seeking an Illustration degree at MIAD which is an awesome college I recommend to anybody living in the Midwest!

Hi! Real name's David. I'm currently 22. I'm from San Diego, California, and I'm currently trying to balance work, school, and way more projects than I can handle.

I'm a huge mythology and history geek, and those things tend to show up in everything I do. I try to always find new things to learn outside of what I'm familiar with, though, and other people's graphic novels and just novels are really interesting to me for that reason. I started on both art and writing kind of late - halfway through high school - and I'm really just kind of learning the basics. My current project, Underling, is my first real stab at doing a graphic novel in the web comic form. I still have so much to learn, but I'm happy with my progress over the last year. In a decade or so I might be pretty decent!

I'm also in to video and board games, travel, biking/climbing/hiking, and, um, long walks on the beach?

I'm Strontium-Chloride, but you can call me Scarlet, which is still not my real name (that is a secret!) but a name I go by on the Internet.
I'll be 17 in December, and am a Junior in high school. I live in the Midwest USA. I am a girl.

I love to make comics, and my dream is to make an epic of a comic about a character of mine, Panic. I've been working almost a year on a sort of "Test-run" comic story about this character that I hope to post here very soon! Still, I know I have a lot to do before I can see my dream come true, but I think this is a good place to have my dream take root and grow into reality.

Besides drawing I also do some writing, and a lot of homework. I play the alto saxophone and do marching band. I also really like History and Chemistry, which is probably obvious because of my username.

Shannon Fowler, but most people online just call me Emily. 23, undergrad degree in drawing and graphic design finished in 2008.

My current project is technically glorified fanfiction, so while I hope to contribute and learn, I'm not sure I should really post it, since it's pretty much textbook dirivative work. I have ideas for a second one that is my own thing, so perhaps I can at least share my process developing that. ONWARD.

Niki, 24, in Cleveland (hopefully not for much longer...). Got a degree in Drawing in 2009 from the art institute here.

I, uh, like to travel? My wife from Germany-- she actually helped translate my comic so we could release a German Kindle version.

Hello! Many people both on the net and off know me as Adielle, though my real name is Danielle. I am a 23 year old freelance illustrator and aromatherpist. I recently moved back to the States from Australia, where I lived with my husband for the past four years.

By the recommendation of the lovely growly beast, I have decided to pursue both my writing and artistic talents together in a steampunk/high fantasy graphic novel. I hope to launch To Ashes in January if all goes well. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and having the chance to read each of your own works as they are launched.

Hi, I'm Rand!

I'm a friend of Jason's as well as his occasional IT consultant, hehe. I'm here to help moderate the forums, provide support, and ensure that NO ONE PRESSES THE BIG RED BUTTON.

It's just a bad idea, really. End of the universe and all that. What, you don't know where the big red button is? Well, that's probably best.

Edit:
Oh, also, I do draw from time to time; mostly portraits, pencil on paper. Old skool!
Some of my stuffs

There, now that I've posted my quasi-street cred, I feel I can (almost) hang with you awesome artists! :)

Hi Everyone! Pleasure to meet you all, feel free to call me Hanna. I'm 23, a post-English Major, graduated in '08. Right now working on a few graphic novel projects, one on my own that I hope to turn into a web-comic (after revisions, and script editing, and more revisions...and finding a artist), and two others I'm working on with an artistically inclined buddy of mine. Hopefully I can get *someplace* with at least one of those by January, haha.

My name's Chris and I'm a Graphic Designer working on my first graphic novel which i plan to unveil on this forum and on its own website in the next few weeks. I've just recently moved from Los Angles to the New Mexico and have been learning all about alien conspiracies and chili.

I've done a lot of work within the publishing world doing design and production on art books and various other fun print design projects. This includes working with Jason on reMIND, advising him on various aspects of design and production for his graphic novel. Its a lot of responsibility, and a great time. I'm really excited to help out in any way that I can with his project.

I'm always looking to collaborate with other comic creators on their graphic novel projects and help then design their books, presentation materials etc for their projects. There's just nothing worse than an amazing project wrapped up in a poorly designed presentation. I have a personal vendetta against bad design and typography and have no problem giving an honest, constructive opinion.

My name's Joumana :) I just turned 31. I'm a Lebanese graphic designer and illustrator, and right now Lebanon's sole comic author. I'll talk more about my comic/graphic novel Malaak: Angel of Peace in the appropriate thread.
My work boils down to three main things: assistant to a master calligrapher, art director/concept artist for a Jordan-based digital entertainment company (we make games) and co-author of a series of informative books for young readers. The rest of the time I'm busy with my personal pursuits: Chinese martial arts, oriental dance, making drawing tutorials, computer icons, Arabic calligraphy among other things. I globetrot as much as I can and indulge in travel photography. All this can be seen on my personal website CedarSeed. If you're on deviantART you might know me, I was the GM for Comics and Cartoons until recently. The how-to aspect of making graphic novels is a passion since I discovered Duc's L'Art de la BD at the age of 12, and I'm thrilled there's finally a forum dedicated to this topic.

And here's a head shot from my last book launch:

Howdy! I'm Ashley Lee, 25 and currently living in upper Texas (where I have always lived).
I've been pinging the idea of a graphic novel around for years but didn't get serious until a little over a year ago. This forum looks like it'll be real helpful! (And friendly!)

I'm sort of just following Growlybeast and Adielle. We're like a many legged caterpillar come to leave our footprints everywhere.

Welcome everyone! Thanks for taking the time to post here. I'm amazed at how much talent there is here already and so many of you are so young.... That is compared to me. I'm 35 by the way. I live in LA with my wife and child.

I've worked freelance for over a decade doing things like storyboards and concept design for commercials, tv and film. I've also had my share of animation jobs and I'm currently working on Kung Fu Panda 2 at Dreamworks. I feel so amateur compared to my coworkers but I'm learning so much great stuff. I started reMIND long before I got my job there and I'm happy to say that reMIND was a big part of my portfolio. Just another reason to pursue your dreams I guess.

Anyway, It's a great job but I still dream of the day I can work on my own stuff full time and make a living at it.

Well, okay, not to skip out on this thread, I'm Mathieu Moyen, I live in New England, and I'm an architect, though I have also done 3d design, journalism, copywriting, graphic art and corporate design, and was originally trained as an archaeologist. So it's been an interesting career for me so far, and a long, weird way to drawing comics. But here I am.

Hello there!
My real name is James, but online I usually work under the alias "portheiusJ". I think doing comics is kinda just part of who I am, I can barely remember a point in time when I didn't have some sort of project underway. Nowadays, I'm trying to do things with a more professional quality (I'm only 20 and at college, so it's kinda something new I started doing since last year). My current long-term comic is The Dirty Dingo (it's anthro, but if that's not your cup of tea, I can respect that, it was conceptually justified).
I tend to kick around a couple shorter term projects as well though...
Digging the idea behind this forum though.
