Hi,
My name is Ian B. I grew up on French / Belgian bandes dessinees and Commando / War Picture Library comics. I wanted to be an artist, but became an aircraft / ground engineer instead. Go figure.
Looking forward to seeing what others are working on and learning. I have 2 graphic novels I am planning / storyboarding. My main tools are pencil / paper, Wacom and Adobe illustrator.
Cheers,
Ian B.

Hello Everyone! My name is Chris and I am from Montgomery county MD, right outside of D.C. I just went digital for the first time(Wacom intuos 4 medium) and am struggling with the disconnect mightily so please dont judge too harshly when you see my work. I currently wait tables for a living, an my art is just a life long hobby/ stress reliever. I am self taught, I love just about all forms of art, from life drawing to illustration to design and grew up with a deep love of comics. I look forward to learning more about the actual process of creating comics as well watching myself and others skills grow while doing it. Soooo....hows it goin everybody?

Hi there, Jason! The size shouldn't matter that much, although obviously it shouldn't be huge. 90X90 pixels seems to be the standard here; it's a good size. What kind of file are you using? It should be JPEG\JPG, GIF or PNG. I'm not sure anything else would work. Also, keep it at RGB or Grayscale, just in case (I'm not sure what would happen if the file is CMYK). I'm not sure something with a transparent background would work either. The name of the file might cause problems as well, you never know. Try to play it safe on all fronts and see what happens. Good luck!

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
I can't get the image size lower than 23.7k and the forums require it to be the following: The avatar’s filesize must be between 0 and 14 KiB.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Try saving it as 256-color GIF or PNG. If that's still too big, try with a reduced number of colors (like 128 or 64). 24K seems awfully large for a 90x90 image.
If you're using Photoshop, trying using the "Save for Web" feature, as I've found it's more efficient than the regular "Save As".

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hi all, My name is Will, known online as Rotary Blaze. I'm 28 and live in Seattle, WA. I'm currently working on one graphic novel series, called "Children of War". I've had the idea for the saga since I was 13. It was also originally a video game idea. But I figured I could start a fan base now, before any video game is made, if ever. If you're interested in checking it out, you can visit one of the following sites: http://www.children-of-war.comhttp://www.facebook.com/children.of.warI used to be a sniper in the Marine Corps. Currently, I'm in the process of ending my career as a private military contractor, and heading into school this fall at DigiPen to study video game design and art. A lot of my military experiences inspire my stories in the comic. Anyway, I'm really glad I stumbled onto this forum. I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and maybe even share some of my experiences and mistakes.

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hello all! My name is Chad, but everyone calls me ISIT anymore anyway. (an abbreviated form of my multimedia project name, In Sleep I Travel.) I currently live in Austin, TX and work as a storyboard artist, and part time as a health aide. On my off days, if I'm not enjoying some sidewalk surfing, I'm usually working on a Graphic Novel of my own. I've had a long, frustrated relationship with comics, and am happy to be working on my own thing at my own pace for the time being. Figured for a pic, I'd go with the most recent of me, which happens to be with electronic wizard, CX Kidtronik (Saul Williams, Atari Teenage Riot.) We've been cooking up something for awhile, and finally got to spend a few minutes with him in person last weekend. (I'm the one with the cat hat.) I came here by way of Nate Simpson, and am really impressed by the podcasts, as well as the community. Many cheers!

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hey all! I'm a long-time comic fan who became interested in digital comics and the future of the comic book medium. I've been following reMINDblog since last year and it was really the place that helped get me started (thanks Jason!) on my own project. Currently, I am working on self-publishing a digital comic book series I wrote called Satanic Hell, about a metal band that gets trapped in an authoritarian religious dystopia. The community here is great and I look forward to contributing. cheers!

I would also like to add that Jason's avatar picture reminds me of Tom Araya of Slayer on the back of the South of Heaven album (he's the guy on the left). Coincidence? That's my favorite Slayer album too!

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hey All, I'm Jerry Willoughby, and I've been writing comics for about three years now. I took a comic class my last year of film school and I realized that comics were a much better outlet for my creativity than film. I had been reading comics for years prior to the class, but never thought about writing them until then. I have two comics in their infantile stage, one is a webcomic called The List, it's about time travel, and the art is all made with construction paper cut outs. It's currently on hiatus until the artist finishes grad school and can start up again. My second project is a graphic novel about a zombie. It's called Lucky, and I'm currently raising funds through Kickstarter to pay the artist, and get the book published.

WADDAP FOLKS!!! My name's Tong, and I've been an avid listener/follower of Jason's makingcomics.com podcasts! As dumb as this might sound, I just rececntly came to the realization that I should be posting stuff at least here with other fellow comickers! I'm pretty excited to be apart of what I feel is an uprising of independent storytellers! It's been so long since I've been this inspired to CREATE and most of all, share not only my story, but my path as a comics artist! Without further ado, I'd like to link anyone who's interested to some of my old work: http://tongman.deviantart.com/gallery/ I've become a bit rusty in recent months, but I hope to sharpen my skills among the many talented storytellers on this forum! PEACE YA'LL!

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hi everyone, I'm from Germany and currently looking to get into a Character Animation programme. I grew up with Francobelgian comics, W.I.T.C.H., Wendy (a very popular weekly German comic about a girl and her horses) and manga like Sailor Moon and Lady Oscar. While I've been drawing for a long time and have been surrounded by comics all my life (my dad used to read them to me when he didn't introduce me to Tolkien or Pratchett) I've never really made any comics until recently. Still in my baby shoes but I'm slowly learning.
I hope that I'll get accepted at art school - learning animating, acting and storyboarding would be a great help in learning to make comics!

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hello, my name is Andrzej. I am from the UK originally, but am currently living in Spain where I work as an English teacher. I have been writing poems, songs and short stories since forever, but over the last year or two have started taking comic book scripts quite seriously, and am now at a stage where I am looking to get an artist involved. This is both exciting and daunting!
My favorite GN is V for Vendetta, and most of the comics I read are British (2000ad and derivatives, mainly). I love Judge Dredd, and am pretty much alone among my comic reading friends in really enjoying the 6 page format.
I guess I signed up because I would love to hear any advice from people who are experienced in the process of producing comics...

Hey, I'm Andrew and I'm part of Ostragoth - a group of friends who are working on graphic novels in Yorkshire (UK). This forum looks like a useful place to hang around. A little bit about the others: Jacqueline Saville is the writer of our group and has had various short stories published as well as working on our graphic novels. Mark Pexton is a name you might recognise if you read Interzone or Black Static Magazines - he's been illustrating for these publications for a few years now. He also has work in the likes of Zarjaz. :waves to everyone:

 Re: Introduce Yourself Thread!
Hey Everybody,
My name is Michael Grills. Currently I work as the creative Director for a company called Empire Avenue Inc. IN the past I have made video games and illustrated for magazines, books and TV. I started my comic over a year ago and went online about 9 months ago.
It's hardboiled, no nonesence(not for kids) fun.
I went indie so I could control the work as the rest of my career is based on other peoples ideas. I work remotely from home... which is awesome because I see my family about 8 hours a day instead of the typical 4 for most.
You can hook up with me on Twitter or Facebook.
Glad to be here.
