As I've been working through my first few gigs as a colorist, I am finding there is still a lot to learn.

One of the things I have run into several times is feeling like the rope in a game of tug-of-war between the writer and the line artist. Where one tells me brighter and the other says darker, and other such things.

Do you colorists out there experience this as well? And is there any standard who is meant to take the lead in such situations? (I had always assumed it to be the writer or editor)
