Post People’s experiences with digital comic distribution 2012
I know there was an older post about digital distribution, but it would be good to see what the story is a year later. For example, here’s some questions:

It seems like there’s a growing number of platforms. Is it better to focus your audience on a few outlets or go crazy with as many as possible hoping for some increased sales? Digital comics are still relatively new and giving too many choices on how to read them could turn off potential readers. Perhaps its best to narrow the selection and make it easier for new readers. Also there’s the time and work it takes to deal with numerous sites. Thoughts?

The main platforms seem to be: Comixology, Graphicly, Kindle, Nook, DriveThruComics, MyDigitalComics and then perhaps Illustrated Section. Others include: Apple’s iBookstore, google books, IndyPlanet digital, and I saw recently that In Maps & Legends is now available on a platform called Weightless Books. I haven’t seen good reviews about XinXii, Longbox, or Wowio.

What has been people’s experiences with these platforms? Which ones do you recommend using or not using to distribute your comics?

What is the worldwide reach of the main platforms? Do they accept numerous translations of the same issue/GN in other languages?

What has been people’s experiences getting accepted into Comixology? Graphicly? Have people been rejected from any platform and why? What about iBookstore? They seem to have a stronger censorship policy.

What about user experience? What are the best platforms for reading comics? The worst?

There’s a lot to discuss here, but it will be helpful to see people’s responses. Look forward to it!
