Post Lineart Coloring Followup
Hey all,

So I found that the method of switching to grayscale to select my lines and color them is awesome. Problem is I can only use this method as the first step of coloring a page, because if I convert anything already colored to grayscale, I lose my colors.

This gets a bit frustrating because I don't necessarily know what kind of colors I want the lineart to be until everything else has a color scheme.

Any ideas how to resolve this or any other methods I can use? I love the simplicity of just Ctrl+Clicking on my gray channel and would like to stick with that if possible.

Download this photoshop action and use it before you start coloring: http://fav.me/d19736w
It'll separate your lines from the background, so that you can color them any time afterwards, as they'll be on their own layer. Of course, you need to color on a separate layer, or at least duplicate the lines layer and preserve the copy as as separate lineart layer so you can load the selection anytime.

I'm not sure I follow what this is about, because I don't use this method, but... You may not actually need to convert everything to grayscale. Shift+Ctrl+U or Image>Adjustments>Desaturate. Only the selected layer will become grayscale, everything else will remain in color.
Hope that helps, I'm kind of shooting in the dark here.
