 Spammers
Hey Everyone,

Since this board exists now, we're susceptible to spammers / bots. I'd like to remind everyone to not click links that are obviously non-topical, since a whole host of problems can occur if you visit the wrong site.

Jason and I delete these threads and ban their respective ip's as soon as they come up, and despite our best efforts to thwart them, some still get past the security settings and are able to post.

So just a friendly reminder, be careful what you click on!

Post Re: Spammers
Good news, everybody!

Our more recent spam prevention techniques have been mostly successful!

However, only against bots.

So, the more recent spam posts that you see are by actual people registering, and copying/pasting crap. Fortunately, this doesn't occur as often, and they're quickly(ish) deleted.

Thank you everyone for reporting posts as spam! We appreciate your continued efforts to keep these forums spam free!

Post Re: Spammers
Is something going on with spammers again? I just got totally blocked out of my account until I reset the password. It was telling me I'd entered a wrong password too many times in a row... but I'd only tried to enter it once? Obviously I got access, regardless, but it's odd as I'd never reset my password previously, so I know the one I was using was right.

Just figured I'd mention it in case anyone else has had something similar happen.

Post Re: Spammers
If any regular users have issues with their passwords, it's likely not because of our direct involvement, I promise! =)

Our anti-spam measures are upon account creation. We recognize all active usernames and only invalidate those that are blatant link spammers.

However, do be advised to keep strong passwords, as it's not beyond the capacity of some forum spammers to try to brute-force password-guess active usernames.
