Forum rules

One thread per graphic novel project to keep out the clutter. In other words, don't start a new thread for each page. No webcomics (newspaper type funnies) that have no order. This is only for a series of pages that create a full story or chapter. If there is a demand for a webcomic section then let me know and I'll add one.

 Chameleon: Jerry ...Lost in Hollywood
Hello lovely fellow humans! Feed me feedback please...... I am done with my first graphic novel and need to know how it is perceived. Anyone interested in reading it online? :?:

Here's a link:
http://zeichenstrich.de/Zeichenstrich/Chameleon.html

Some more sample pages...,

Summary of the Novel:
Upon the untimely death of his father a 37 year old artist recalls his coming to the United States as a young man. It is the 1990s and he has chosen Los Angeles to pursue his dreams. He wants to become successful in the film industry and stumbles into every pitfall the west coast megalopolis has to offer. Only through failure he will eventually discover his real self.

The first volume comprises roughly the first 5 years of my 10 years stay in the United States. I am currently working on the second volume.

hope you guys enjoy...

Just checked out a couple of pages (visual review only, will read later), it has a beautiful Noir feel to it. I would recommend posting a few image samples to peak peoples interest.

Hmmm... are you experiencing some difficulties adding images to the post? what I see is:

But no actual images.
To add an image you write something like this:
Code:
[img]http://www.mysite.com/images/image001.jpg[/img]

(With an actual link to an actual image that actually exists, obviously.)

Images should work now. It's an IWeb Site, so can be tricky....
These are the first three pages, for the rest please refer to the link in the original post. Thanks for Feedback.

(So I'm going to zombify an old thread here, but ahh... feel free to at me for doing so.)
One of the things that kinda erks me is the font. It looks far too digital right now and is clashing with your images a bit.
Reading through it, I really like the tone its got going for it. Perhaps it's the wording, but it's pretty good for a Noir type of thing.
As far as the artwork goes, it does quite look as confident as I think it could. Have you tried using an ink brush or digital equivalent? The strokes do look a little chaotic in a way, like the little girl's hair. I kinda like it, but I think you could make it look more intentional.
But, your work with the anatomy/facial structure and such is really quite good! Perspective too. Keep at it!

Thanks to portheiusJ

I have worked on it a lot since. Appreciate the feedback. The graphic resolution does look a little gritty, that's an upload issue, I found. I will post the English version again when its finished, gotta finish the German (original language) first.

You can check it in a bit on http://zeichenstrich.de/Zeichenstrich/Home.html

Thanks anyway,

Gerald Hartwig

Hey Chamaeleon, dropping in here again. Read a good bit of the story, and I really liked it. I don't think you should really go all out "Noir" with it. This feels much more like a dairy/journal comic about a significant event in a character's (your?) life.
I read the German version, so I think I got about 70% of all of it, but the tone it really well done. I guess, maybe experiment with with art style a bit, but certainly keep at it!
