 White Ink/Pens
Anyone have a white pen to recommend? All the ones I've tried--admittedly, just what I've been able to find at local shops and Michaels/Hobby Lobby--just won't do a solid line. It's frustrating.

 Re: White Ink/Pens
Never used white ink pens so I really don't know much about them. What do you use them for? Do you draw on black paper or something? Or is it for corrections? I personally use Permanent White Designers Gouache from Winsor & Newton for correction, I apply it with a brush. It takes several minutes to dry, otherwise it's the best correction method I know of (other than fixing things digitally, I do that too).

Doing accents over inked areas, that kind of thing. The effect I'm going for is kinda like Dean White does on Uncanny X-Force; Ben Templesmith uses it a good deal, too.

Ah, I see. That's cool. Well, I hope someone else will comment, 'cause as I've mentioned already - I've no experience with these pens.

 Re: White Ink/Pens
I've tried using paint, but I suck with normal brushes. I've got an extra brush pen, I may try putting some white ink in it, see how that goes.

 Re: White Ink/Pens
Sharpie's extra-fine point white posterpaint pen (water based) has been my go to for awhile. The white gel pens are okay, but they clog and jam very quickly.
On occasion if you aren't careful, or have shaken it a bit too much, it will have a run out, so always have a little test sheet before jumping into a page you've spent alot of time on already.

 Re: White Ink/Pens
I've been having the same problem with finding a pen I like since I can't get the effect i want with brushes. I actually just emailed Mr. Templesmith to ask him what he uses. I can let you know what he says.
I've emailed him before with art questions and he was very prompt and happy to reply.

 Re: White Ink/Pens
I recommend Zinc White Gouache and a sharp brush - it will give you far better results than any white ink or chemical white-out.

Quote: The pens I use are called Signo. I google and order them from a bunch of places online but never remember cos I buy bulk.
Hope that helps! That's the replay I got from Ben Templesmith. So there's that suggestion.
